چکیده

Materials and methods: Forty finishing pigs were used in a 12-day disease challenge study. Dietary treatments included no DFM (Control; 20 pigs), DFM provided in drinking water (E faecium), or DFM provided in feed (Bacillus). Ten Control pigs were not challenged with Salmonella Typhimurium; the remaining 30 pigs were inoculated on Day 0. Fecal samples were cultured for Salmonella Typhimurium on Days 0 to 5, 9, and 12. Serum haptoglobin (Hp), α1-acid glycoprotein (AGP), IgG, and IgM concentrations were measured. Pigs were euthanized on Day 12, and tissue and digesta were tested for presence and numbers of salmonellae.

Oral inoculation with Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium or Choleraesuis promotes divergent responses in the somatotropic growth axis of swine.

Enteric disease and immune challenge are processes that have detrimental effects on the growth performance of young swine. The current study tested the hypothesis that salmonella-induced enteric disease would perturb the endocrine growth axis in a serovar-dependent fashion. Specifically, we evaluated the effects of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (Typhimurium) and serovar Choleraesuis (...

Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium-induced maturation of bone marrow-derived dendritic cells.

Murine bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (DC) can phagocytose and process Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium for peptide presentation on major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I) and MHC-II molecules. To investigate if a serovar Typhimurium encounter with DC induces maturation and downregulates their ability to present antigens from subsequently encountered bacteria, DC were pulse...

مقایسه پلی‌مورفیسم ژنومی و ارتباط ژنتیکی سویه‌های بالینی سالمونلا انتریکا سرووار تیفی موریوم در استان کرمان به روش ERIC- PCR و Box-PCR

Introduction: Salmonella is one of the most important causes of gastroenteritis in humans. Salmonella enterica Serovar Typhimurium has many hosts in addition to humans, and its prevalence in the community is high. The aim of the study was comparing the genetic diversity of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium isolated from human fecal samples by both of ERIC-PCR and BOX-PCR method. Methods:...

Multilocus Sequence Typing of the Clinical Isolates of Salmonella Enterica Serovar Typhimurium in Tehran Hospitals

Background: Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium is one of the most important serovars of Salmonella enterica and is associated with human salmonellosis worldwide. Many epidemiological studies have focused on the characteristics of Salmonella Typhimurium in many countries as well as in Asia. This study was conducted to investigate the genetic characteristics of Salmonella Typhimurium using m...

Pork contaminated with Salmonella enterica serovar 4,[5],12:i:-, an emerging health risk for humans.

Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar 4,[5],12:i:- is a monophasic variant of S. enterica serovar Typhimurium (antigenic formula 4,[5],12:i:1,2). Worldwide, especially in several European countries and the United States, it has been reported among the 10 most frequently isolated serovars in pigs and humans. In the study reported here, 148 strains of the monophasic serovar isolated from pi...
